This food handling tip sheet provides guidelines for the proper handling of your meals. Proper refrigeration and re-heating of your meals is necessary to ensure safe food handling.
Food Handling Tips:
- If not home when meal(s) arrive, leave an insulated cooler for the delivery volunteers to place meals on ice.
- Refrigerate meal(s) immediately if you do not plan to eat them right away.
- You can re-heat foods in your oven, toaster oven or microwave* to an internal temperature of 165 degrees or more. For example in oven - heat meal 15-20 minutes in 150-degree oven.
- Optimum time for using leftovers is one (1) day. Food may look and smell fine, but can still spoil if kept for longer than this.
- Always cover meals before storing in refrigerator.
